About Us
Andy's Market is
a family run business started by Andy Andreo Sr. in 1951, on the corner of Main
Street and Maple Street in East Hartford, Connecticut. The location was the size
of one of today's 7-11 stores. Andy's father Dominic ran produce and his mother
Mary and wife Peggy ran the registers. In 1959 we expanded the size of the store
by moving up the street to 180 Main Street in a store half the size of a
Walgreens today. In 1969 we moved again, this time a mile south to our current
location, a store about 20,000 square feet in size.
In 1979 we opened our
Simsbury store at 836 Hopmeadow Street. It was the site of an abandoned Old
First National store. Over the past 20 years both locations have undergone
expansions and remodels to bring them to their current sizes. The day to day
business is now run by Andy Jr. and John Andreo. They have tried to maintain the
good business values that Andy Sr. set forth in his first store in 1951. They
have friendly customer service, and quality products at a great value. We the
Andreo Family, thank you for the past 50 years of patronage, and look forward to
serving you for the next 50 years.
